on another note.. whent to costume curio and fashion shack. got a lovely coat with beautiful buttons (actually i bought the coat for the buttons) the price on it was 682 bucks and it being fashion shack got it for 28. incl tax. so yay for my cheapness... ;)

I finished my Victory dress last night. yay! now I have to work... pics later. no, still non of me... I'm working on it!
lordofhaladin: (Default)
all I need are the amber beads... here are some pics... this dress was a piece of cake to sew! although my machine hates the fabric..... but here you go!

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

okay this is very slow so I'll keep this small. just the under dress and the top of it with the almost done jacket on...

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

yes the buttons are covered and a differnt shade then the dress, but whatelse are you sopposed to do with the test swathes? ;)

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

yes this still looks better on then on my dummy, but forgive her, she's getting a complex, i had to give her breasts, she still doesn't have a name, her cover is coming off, and shes too big.... ;p

Duke Power. still no hope of power. come to find out we don't have people here, they are in Louiesianna we have about 1000 Pike people, so not only are they incompatant (we have reported the downed line and tree three times and its still not on record), but they don't know the system, roads etc. so we have been going to others houses and showering and costomers are feeling sorry for us and letting us barrow lanterns etc. sponge baths in the bathroom of our rest is NOT fun. not to mention no flushing toilets at home is just nasty. if Duke power had actually gotten off thire butts and fixed the trees in the past three years (like they got in trouble to do and was paid to do so during those years) this would not be so bad. and if (since they knew the ice storm would be a problem) sent us back our people we might have lost power but for a whole week is a tad rediculous! (sorry I'm ranting but agghhhh! by-the-by, I'm at the rest, thats how I'm on the comp.

on a better note, yesterday trying to get warm and have lights (which all the lanterns etc are sold out in all od G'ville and easley) we whent to wally world and I got some thread and a zipper for the GG. I still haven't gotten my swatches by-the-by. so thinking of blowing my money and just ordering from FMG and dharma (dye perriwinkle, I think that was the one I was told is more like sky blue) and thai silks(just the matelasse) but non too sure about that. but oh so tempting. at least I can dye things with no power and I bet anything we won't have power till friday. just you wait, if they can't even make a report how can they deploy people? but anyways... fabrics and such for finishing the VD, yay or neigh? oh yes, I'm leaving this public so all can know about Duke power.

all but done... all it needs is the beads then its done, it fits like a glove though, but takes awful pics, (its like me, it's NOT photogenic) its not that bubbly in the back inperson.... also my dummy is warring with me so... anyways.. here are the "all but done pics" and some on me (bad light and very fuzzy, but you can get the idea, also I do have a shape, I'm just weaering two shirts and I refuse to take off my sweater before I get warm....)

things I've learned today. carpet can melt, mine turns barbie pink. upholstry fabric has a smelly when hot fume. when you smell rubber when ironing, the cord is melting. irons are hot when you touch them. even when unplugged, and if you are touching them, if you feel pain in your finger, remove your finger, your being burnt..... yes I'm being blond today.

anyway... pics!

(this is after I adjusted my dummy, turns out it was about 5 ins off. yikes!) anyway, sorry no pics of the back yet, but no zipper in and still trying to fit the back better, but now since I've found my dummy was "bad" I think I can get the zip in tomarrow (hopefully).

still to do, get beads, (i love the things! yes back to that.... ;)) pu them on, and zipper, then the under dress....
lordofhaladin: (Default)
okay, here is the front insert I've been working on (the emb only, since I haven't ordered the beads yet.) half is hand done, the other is machine (amazing what i can make my machine do! its just a regular Singer)

gosh yesterday it was 80, now its 50. brrr! anyway... worked on the lining to my jacket and bodice to my VD. pics later, it looks very odd. but its just the lining so who cares! and now (since I still don't want to cut my fabric even though I'm done with the jacket mock) I'm planning another mock. (br? a corset? GG? somthing from SW? (MoteƩ?) ) oh well... dinner time! oh before dinner heres a pic of my raglan pattern

can I just say i hate raglan sleeves? oh yeah, i've been saying that.
lordofhaladin: (Default)
grrr... hate it, was so perfect yesterday but now..... well worked on the underdress and tried it on, come to find out that my dummy is too big witha small torso, so I had to fix that, now the underdress fits me, but not my dummy. but figured out that I'm going to have to order more fabric then i thought for the underdress (thankfull i was always budgeting for 8 yards, but now I just wont have any left over to play with. now as for the jacket (since this is my only day I can work on it this week) it's a royal PITA, and to top it off my sleeve pattern wont work so I had to draft a new one, but now i don't think i ordered enough fabric for the jacket, but we'll see... now I have to try that on and see... by the by the hp garnishes are a horror!
lordofhaladin: (Default)
well, I'm done with the underdress mock here are some pics (excuse the mess and the wrting on it thats how I keep my notes organized,) also forgive the fabric, it was my great grandmothers before she lost her eyesight (she had bad taste as you can tell) and I can't think of anything for it but mocks.

sleeve mock with mods, sorry no back pics but theres not much to show.

the mock still needs some "tweaking" but I think its pretty good, (not to mention have no earthly idea of how to try it on with out basting it, or I'll get so many pricks! well off to work! oh yeah wrote to Suomynona Couture about trim and she said that shes out of the one I asked about but she has te other and she (or I ) could modify it, I'm asking for pics and prices. since mj is out.
lordofhaladin: (Default)
okay.. I've started working with the raglan pattern (making one) what a pain in the butt!!! but I think I got it after 1 hour of cussing at it (in Elvish of course ;)) now I guess I should work on Jack Sparrow and the under dress first but *sigh* I have the fabrics for the jacket (with exception to linings) and nothing else, also should work on BR dress, but hey lke I said fabrics! ;) I'm so Happy! (dispite work later! take that evil work monster!)

yes the new title that I use for every post. ;) anyway... am doing some beading and thinking about doing some quenya... but i was feeling computer deprived so i stoped for now, (also feeling fabric deprived but THAT is a differnt matter) did anyone realise taht "stoped" is a very strange word to look at.. (sorry random thought....)but oh well... I want to get about 6 or 5 clusters done today so I can be done beading by friday but it all depends on what the fam is doing... and not to mention that my show comes on tonight so... ;) new cute-ish guy on TV thus unatainable Dean form Supernatural. but Sean Bean and Craig (ooh Craig!) Parker is at the top of my list. too bad he's gay... *sigh* every woman in the world probably has the "too bad he's gay" problem huh? oh well I ve decided that the painting the fabric might be worth it but I'm not sure about the durabllity of the paint (perhaps i should got shopping for fabric paint I like?) anyway it doesn't add much, but it adds a tad of white (that I like my fabrics too dark anyway) and some sparkle, some "warm" sparkle, it's vaguely goldish but mostly white... but more testing is in order. later. *sigh* off to beading for me! only 11 to go! *sings*
lordofhaladin: (Default)
I've decided that everyone in the world has to watch the "supersize me" documentry and read the "don't eat this book" book.

I watched LOTR ROTK again, I love taht movie. *snif* no more movies or books....

also did a "paint test" on my brocade for the VD, I've decided to leave it alone, (it looked horrid when I put paint on it... ugh) but the white accents... hmmm... I'm undecided on that one... more tests needed..
lordofhaladin: (Default)
okay, I've decided to get started on all my mocks all at once, the problem.. how to store my velvet (hope dress gown) while I'm working on my mocks on my dummy, must get another dummy soon! so hopefully I'll get started on my mocks before too long. gosh for being starving and not wanting to work in 3 hours I'm in a pretty great mood! la la la!
lordofhaladin: (Default)

this is what i need from firemountain

http://www.firemountaingems.com/cartcheck.asp hmm every time I try to post this it takes off my smokey quartz, and i think I decided, I want the 4mm, but since the lack of tape measures i can't be certain yet....

it's my shopping list/cart these are the beads i want

http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?pn=851156MD

http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?pn=H157654GS can't decide if I want these or wait till these come in
http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H157655GS I mostly don't want to wait, but the size is better on these.

hmmm... shipping is 7.13 for usps 2-11 days
3.85 for usps 3-6 days
3 day express fed-ex is 7.14 hmm and hndling is close to 3 bucks

okay just changed my mind again. I want this
http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H151256MD and I was thinking that the clear ones should be 5-6mm but i can't find them, so I'm happy! and I've decided, the things/decor will be 1 1/4" each with 3/4" between them and the placket will be 16" and I'll fit 8 decors on it. (I really ahve to get back to being excited on this project!)
