my test pc of the brocade didn't shrink a bit, but (of course) the whole four yards I got, shrunk, 14" averaging about 4" per yard (just so everyone knows) I washed it on the delecate cycle in warm water (cool rinse) and on the coolest temp there was in the dryer. but it got so soft! the insert fabric on the other hand... didn't shrink and didn't get softer (which I was hoping it would, figures) but I guess thats fine.... anyone know a way to stretch the brocade abck out?

Oh, bummer... Did you dry the test piece in the dryer? That is my suspicion... that it was the dryer, and not the wash... (I never use the dryer, being much more suspicious of dry heat that cold water...) ... and maybe Judy is right, you have a blend of fibers? I have no idea how to fix that... Does it look good? Could be, it still does... I wish your camera was working... Let us know what happens when you iron it...

yep everythig the same. (I always dry everything I just know the one thing I don't dry I'll accedently put in the dryer and it will shrink to a very nice barbie dress) and yeah Judy is right, and I think I'll just have (like Cat said) " a very nice crinkle I can use" ;) and I can make myself feel better with what Judy said "people pay alot of money for fabric like that" I was thinking of not ironing it, I don't know what it'll do in next washings... so I don't know if stretching it out is a good idea.. 'sides cleopatramwi said it doesn't stretch much, so perhaps just make it more smooth and be happy with it, 'sides the more i look at it the more I'm liking the "pronounced" pattern ;)

Judy is very right on that one... they pay big dollars for that... And something else... Ngila really loves doing stuff like that to her fabrics...(I'm sure you've heard that! :) I think people pay big bucks for it, because they are too afraid to manipulate the fabrics themselves... I'd say, you are already starting to like how it's looking, huh? Pronounced pattern... sounds good! :P

thanks! yeah when my camera works I'll take pics (actually perhaps I'll buy myself a digital camera..) and I have before pics too. but really if you (or anyone else) gets the fabric, now you know it averages 4" per yard. but it gets so soft!
